Competitions and Rules

The club has a number of competitions members compete for. The rules are;

Core Rules

  • Competitions are available only to members of the club who were;
    •  Financial at the time of the “event” (e.g. the date the fish caught) and,
    •  Financial as at 31 Oct (end of the competition year)
  • The competition year runs from 1 November to 31 October
  • Awards will be announced and prizes awarded on the Christmas club night in December or as otherwise advised
  • Trophies/cups/shields are on loan and are to be returned by 31 October each year (please clean before returning)
  • Unless otherwise specified (eg Salmon Cup) all fish caught must be trout. Some trophies specify rainbow or brown trout
  • All legal methods of catching shall be permitted unless otherwise defined for a specific trophy
  • Application forms (as published in Riffles or as otherwise made available by the club) shall be submitted within 30 days of the catch
  • The Judges decision is final and no correspondence will be entered in to

Specific Rules

Fishing News Literary Award
  • Must be an original article, not previously published (other than in Riffles) in any other publication
  • Must have been published in Riffles during the current competition year
  • Must be the original written work of the member
  • Must be fishing related
Fly Tying Trophy
  • All flies must be tied by the member
  • Flies to be tied are as defined each year by the organiser
  • Flies will be returned following prizegiving

Tisdalls Cup
  • Entries must be fishing related and be the original work of the member
  • Entered photographs will be returned following prizegiving
Presidents Cup
  • All trout entries are automatically entered
Flycasting
  • AFAC casting competition run approximately February each year
Pins
  • Silver pin to winners of all each fish category (limit one per member per year)
  • Gold pin replaces the silver pin if the fish caught equals or exceeds 10 pounds
